Sweet Petite Navigation Home About Shel The Blog Tutorials/Tips How To Inspired Featured Blog Love Link Parties Shel's Faves Bake to the Future Collaboration - The Future is Here!!! in biscuits, BTTF, charity, collaboration, movies Posted - Wednesday, 21 October 2015 - No comments The 21st of October 2015 is Back to the Future day! The future is here! Marty & Doc have arrived :D I've been a Back to the Future fan for as long as I can remember and I just had to mark this momentous occasion somehow! A few emails, group posts, tweets and facebook posts later and Bake to the Future was born!!! Over the last few months I've had the pleasure of working with some amazing bakers all around the world, on this collaboration! We've been creating BTTF themed cakes and cookies (biscuits!!!) and donating the proceeds of our sales to our local Parkinson's charities. And here is my entry: What do you guys think? I had to have some nerdy references in there but hopefully even the non-geeky folk can recognise a few ;) And I'm so pleased to say that I'm set to raise well over my initial £88 (pun intended!) target for Parkinson's UK!! The shark is my favourite and it was inspired by the amazing artwork from Geoff at Gigawatt Graphics The DeLorean was also inspired by BTTF artwork, this time by Rachel over at Hi My Name is Rachel The talent of the other ladies in the group has truly blown me away! All entries can be found on the Bake to the Future website! Absolutely unbelievable stuff over there, so make like a tree and get outta here and check it out!!! The challenges always force you to think outside of the box and with it being even slightly Christmas related I had to participate in this one! Here is my entry, a festive farmyard! and here are the cutters I used: I think my favourite is the pig! I'm glad there was only 5 because the Christmas tree sheep did not work at all!! :) All credit for the idea goes to my husband! I was trying to work out what theme to go for when he pointed at the reindeer cutter and said "that looks like a pecking chicken!!" and that was that!! So what do you guys think? You can check out the rest of the entries here! It's been far too long hasn't it? I decided to take a break from all things sugar for a while, but I'm back and raring to go! So what's got my butt back in the kitchen then? Well, The Great British Bake Off of course!! Yep, it's back this week for the 6th series and I can't wait for the technical challenges of things I've never heard of let alone attempted, the show stoppers, star baker of the week, soggy bottoms (#bakeoffinnuendo!) and that lovely bake off tent! Cue oven with a proving drawer and Smeg fridge envy! ;) The first episode of this series is all about cake which is the second best week after biscuit week for me!! Although it's such as shame you never see an iced biscuit on the programme as they take waaaay to long to dry :( Sigh! Never mind, there's plenty here! Cake biscuits! Yay! And to be fair we can't have cake without baking tools can we?!! And here they are altogether :) So are you looking forward to the show? Will it inspire you? What's your favourite week? Are you more of a patisserie or a bread fan? Or are you just hoping for more baked-alaska-in-the-bin dramas?! I'm ready for some sunshine and Easter eggs!!! So looking for Easter inspiration I was scrolling around Pinterest, as you do, well I do, I'm a little bit obsessed, and I spotted this crafty photo: and I instantly thought this needed to be a biscuit! When I clicked through I found an amazing website called Crafty Morning, it's full of kids crafts, recipes and DIY tutorials and it's one of my new faves (and I don't even have kids!), go check it out if you haven't already! So with permission from the lovely Michelle at Crafty morning I bring you my very first YouTube tutorial! My god I was soooo nervous making this! I know that sounds crazy, piping biscuits. In my own kitchen. On my own. But I was terrified!! And I still haven't quite figured which angle is best to work at, and this one was piped sideways so it's not as perfect as I'd hoped for (ahem bunny ears!) but I'm still chuffed with it! Hopefully it's the first of many :) And here's some I made earlier! How Blue Peter is all this?!! So, what do you think? Let me know and if you have any YouTube tips I'd love to hear them too :D I link up at these parties! OK, I know that it's a bit late for that, but the start of the year has been a total blur for me, and I'm only now getting back in the swing of things. So I thought I'd kick off the year by participating in a challenge! Over on Cookie Connection there is a bi-monthly challenge called Practice Bakes Perfect and this time round the subject was architecture and I immediately thought of my home town. I live just outside Newcastle upon Tyne in England and its well known for some amazing architecture the Tyne Bridge, The Angel of the North and the Sage to name a few, but I decided to leave these for another blog post ;) The challenge is accompanied with a pinterest inspiration board and there was some amazing doors on it which made me think it could really only be one! The Vampire Rabbit door! No honestly, the Vampire Rabbit door! It's one of the oddities in the city that sits behind St. Nicholas' Cathedral. It's an oddity as no one really knows why there is a blood sucking creature on the top. Besides him though, the door is stunning! So what do you think of the edible version? Apart from the swirls under the round window I'm fairly happy with it saying as though I'm a little out of practise! And the fact that my rabbit doesn't look sinister at all, but really cute, makes me giggle ;) You can check out all the other entries here!
